How to Pause Regular Service During a Customer's Holiday

Handle a holiday pause by separating existing Visits from future generation, confirming a restart date and reviewing the first service back.

Confirm the last service before the holiday, the dates when access or service is unavailable, and the intended first service afterwards. Then review existing occurrences separately from future generation. In Daylane, pausing a recurrence does not remove Jobs already on the schedule.

Turn the holiday message into three dates

'Away next month' is not enough to change a regular round. Ask whether the customer wants service to stop entirely or whether attendance can continue under another access arrangement. Record the answer without collecting unnecessary details about their travel.

Review the Jobs that already exist

Find occurrences in the agreed no-service period and resolve each one according to the customer's decision. Daylane's Pause future generation control stops new Jobs being generated; it leaves existing scheduled Jobs unchanged. Treat those two actions as separate checks.

For a short holiday, the affected work may already be inside the rolling 90-day window. Pausing generation alone can therefore leave every holiday-period Visit visible. Inspect the actual schedule before telling the customer the pause is complete.

Make the restart someone’s responsibility

Record who will review the restart and when. Resuming requires Pro+ and checks upcoming occurrence dates; it does not establish access or customer agreement. Confirm the first Visit, duration and any changed site conditions before attendance.

If regular service will restart on a new interval or weekday, review the pattern deliberately. Do not create a second recurrence simply because the first is paused, as that can leave two series covering the same customer.
