Free Daylane Customer CSV Import Template

Prepare your Customer list with the column names Daylane actually accepts. This free UTF-8 CSV contains two clearly fictional examples: a Customer with one Location and a Customer with no Location. Replace or remove both example rows before importing your own data.

What this example includes

The columns are Name, Email, Phone, Street address, Suburb, State, Postcode and Internal notes. Name is required. Email, Phone and Internal notes are optional. Complete all four Location fields or leave all four blank. The sample's addresses are fictional and its example.com emails are placeholders.

The first row demonstrates a four-digit postcode beginning with zero and a note containing a comma. The second demonstrates a Customer without a service address. The download includes a UTF-8 byte-order mark and standard CSV quoting; it is tested with Daylane's Customer CSV parser.

Prepare and preview your own file

Keep the headers and replace the fictional rows with your Customer data. Preserve phone numbers and postcodes as text, then check the saved CSV retains leading zeros. Save as UTF-8 and keep each upload within 1 MB and 1,000 Customers.

An owner or scheduler can open Import and export in Daylane settings, choose the file and select Preview import. Fix all reported errors and compare the valid-row total with your list. Only the first ten valid rows are shown. A ready preview has not added any Customers; the separate Import Customers action does that.

Review duplicates before importing

A matching existing email causes the incoming row to be skipped. When the incoming email is blank, an exact existing phone match also causes a skip. Skipped rows do not update existing details or add Locations. Check shared inboxes and repeat entries before upload, and reconcile the imported and skipped counts afterwards.

The import can add one initial Location per new Customer. Add additional Locations through the Customer record. This CSV does not import Jobs, Visits, separate billing contacts, Location labels or access notes, and it is not a full account restore format.
