How to Start Dispatching With Your First Team Member

Move from a sole-trader schedule to team dispatch with a role, availability and assignment checklist, plus a small first-day handover exercise.

Set up the person's access, working availability and first assigned Visit before relying on team dispatch. Adding a name to the business is not the same as giving that person a workable day. Start with one clearly scoped attendance and verify the view they will use.

Choose the role and check the plan

Daylane team dispatch is part of Pro+. The owner can invite a colleague from Team when the plan and available seats allow it. Pro+ includes one user; additional users are paid seats. Review the billing screen before expanding the team.

Choose a scheduler role for someone who needs to organise work, or a team member role for assigned field work. Do not grant broad scheduling access merely to make one Visit visible.

Use one practice attendance

Review a clearly labelled practice scenario together without sending customer messages. Have the colleague identify the Job reference, attendance time and instructions, then explain what they would do if access failed. This checks understanding before a busy round.

In assignment management, choose one primary assignee and any additional people. A Visit supports up to five assigned team members. Confirm that each selection reflects an actual attendance need.

Review the first day together

After the first working day, compare the plan with the recorded outcomes. Look for missing context, unclear ownership and unrealistic travel. Use the findings to improve the next brief rather than adding every possible field to every Job.

Daylane's team workflow concerns assignments and Availability; it does not provide live location or attendance tracking. Agree how the team will communicate changes through the tools and working channels actually in use.
